  1. Our Fishing Report!
On Sunday four of us got together and met Capt. Bob Breton on his “Hog Hunter” Cat boat at the Venice boat ramp where he met us with his mate and a 5th fisherman . We worked for a while to fill the well with livies before we set out for the fishing grounds. For the most part it seemed as if the frozen sardines did just as well as the livies, even with the gags. I played around with some butterfly jigs early on and got plenty of fish, all short. We were catching LOTS of grouper on the baits, I would estimate that we released 10 shorts for each keeper we put in the box. The first fish on ice was a red hog, we then nailed a couple of nice gags in a row. Each spot put a couple more fish in the box. Finally at 2 PM the fog lifted and Bob put us on a drift that put 4 nice grouper on ice. We had tried moving all the way out past 100′ of water and we found no fish at 90′, 100′, or beyond. We did all the catching in the 70′ depth range. Other than the 15 grouper we took home, there was only one snapper, a nice lane. We did catch some smaller sized porgies as well as some HUGE grunts. Considering that one fisherman was suffering mal de mar and another fellow was doing all he could just to stay in the boat when the grouper grabbed his baits, we did quite well!

  2. I have fished all over the country in the past 20 years and with some of the best captains in the bisness. recently i had the pleasure of fishing the hog hunter with captain bob. I would have to say this was one of the best trips in a long time. We had rough seas that day and the fish were not co-operating at all. Captain bob worked very hard going spot to spot till we found the right area to catch fish. We bagged 8 large blacks, 5 reds and so many large mangroves, my arms were killing me by days end. Not to mention the awesome 60 pound AJ’s and 3 wahoo we trolled up on the way in. The whole experience was fantastic, especially when you have captain that laughs and jokes with everybody, all the while he is working on finding you fish. I also had the pleasure of watching one of the best first mates in the bisness work. Brandon, a full time firefighter, part time first mate, and part time anchor winch. TOP NOTCH. I would definitly reccomend this boat to anyone who is interested in a great trip, and i am looking forward to another one very soon.

  3. We went out with Capt.Bob on Dec. 30th and found it to be the best fishing we ever had from Florida. Capt. Bob tried so very hard to get us to spots that would produce some GREAT fishing and he succeeded!! We almost caught our limit (just shy of 2 for Grouper)! The other fishing boats weren’t catching much, and not as much as we seem to catching. To bad the day had to end! Way to go Capt. Bob. The first mate and the Capt. worked very well together at getting us the “catchiest” fishing trip we have had in years. Thanks. Looking forward to joining you again soon.

  4. My wife and I had the chance to get out with Capt. Bob. The conditions were not the best to say the least. It was a full moon and the wind had been blowing for days. We left the dock and headed out to catch some bait. They did not want to bite as per normal. We managed to get a few fine specimens for the adventure. We then headed out to the 100′ of water area. Along the way we trolled up a nice ‘cuda. ( my first ) Then we set up in the 6 to 8 foot swells to try to get a bait to the bottom. Not much luck staying in the right spot and with the lack of fish, we were on the move again. This time we trolled up some amber jacks. We did eventually find the right spot and the fish. The water was laying down and the fishing was amazing. But, all good things must come to an end. We made our way back in and cleaned the catch. You can be sure that I will be going out with the hoghunter many more times in the future. Thanks for the great time Capt. Bob

  6. Personally fishing should be all about the relaxation, it is a fantastic pastime whenever unwinding from a busy working week. It may likewise be deemed a collectors hobby, whenever I check out all of the different attire I have.

  7. I have been fishing with Captain Bob for several years. I have taken experienced angles as well as novice. Captain Bob and crew are very passionate at what they do. Everyone has a good time and catches fish! (its rare not to limit out). Bob has a loyal customer base with a lot of repeat business. My friends drive from the East coast when they hear I plan a trip with Serenity Charters. By the way, his signature seasoning for fish is also great with Chicken.
